In the latest bizarre reports in the murder of Bushenyi district businessman, John Rwamutwe, popularly known as Hedex, corrupt Police detectives alleged solicited Shs500,000 from Mrs. Monicah Rwamutwe in order to track the kidnappers of her husband who was at the time still alive but didn’t.
Bushenyi based scribe Wilber Muhwezi-Kasibante, Mrs. Monicah Rwamutwe said, the police detectives approached her on Wednesday, a day after her husband had been captured and told her that they were going to Isingiro district to track the kidnappers.
She claims that the Police detectives told her that they had information that the ransom she had paid on mobile money had been withdrawn from Kaberebere town in Isingiro district thus could track down the kidnappers.
“I have run out of money because I have paid Bushenyi police detectives 500,000= while going to Kaberebere in Isingiro to track the kidnappers of my husband and in the morning, I paid a ransom of 500,000=. The whole of today[Wednesday] I have spent a lot of money and I don’t know whether my husband is still alive” she told about 10 Bushenyi residents, mknewslink reported.
But Police in Bushenyi refuted Mrs Rwamutwe’s allegations. “I am not aware that of the incident. This is new to me and it’s not true” said Eddie Sserunjoji, Regional Police commander for Bushenyi Greater.
Rwamutwe was later to be found dead on Tuesday evening after his body was discovered on Thursday morning dismembered and stuffed in a metallic box at the back of his car (UAQ 567R).
The body was apparently found with what’s believed to be nail holes in the back, the neck, and on the knees on top of several other wounds.
This was at Kyarutanga village, Kagongo Ward in Ibanda Municipality. Police in the district then declined to comment on the matter although sources in police said they had launched investigations into the matter.
This week, the law enforcement body have released a composite image of a suspect in the murder.
So far, three people have been arrested in relation to the gruesome murder.
