The Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi is mourning the passing on of his closest guard, Hassan Mugerwa aka Maliba who was found dead at Kubiri along Bombo Road on Saturday morning.

Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson Mugerwa was found lying dead in the middle of the road in the wee hours of Saturday morning.

Mr Noah Kiyimba the Buganda kingdom spokesman said that the Kabaka of Buganda was “deeply saddened by Muugerwa’s sudden death.

“Ssabassajja is calming Mugerwa’s friends and family. As Mengo we ask police to make thorough investigations into his death and have the culprits apprehended,” said Mr Kiyimba.

Police suspect that Maliba could have been either strangled or poisoned since there was no pool of blood where his body was found in the middle of the road at Kubbiri near Kobil Petrol Station on  Bombo Road, said Paul Kangave, Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson Mugerwa.

Mugerwa is commonly known as Maliba due to his style of wearing an animal skin coat most of the time as you can see in the above picture.

Mugerwa was the founder of Kabaka Munyango Royal Boda-Boda Escorts group and was of Nkima Clan and a resident of Kyaddondo County.

Mugerwa is survived by a wife and children and will be laid to rest at his ancestral home in Butega village in Mityana district on Sunday.
