Police blocks Besigye car before accessing embattled Crane Bank

FDC’s former presidential candidate Dr Kizza Besigye’s car was on Tuesday briefly blocked by anti-riot police as he tried to access Crane Bank, Kampala main branch.

With a crowd growing, Besigye was in a shortly barricaded by police after being blocked just minutes earlier on his way from the High Court.  Police first dispersed a crowd that had gathered at city square in Kampala before rushing to deploy outside Crane bank.

Without much negotiations, the opposition leader was been allowed to access Crane bank reportedly to carrying out some transactions.

Police say they were stopping Besigye from leading his convoy through the busy Kampala Road.

Dr Besigye was from appearing before Ms Mary Eleanor Khainza, the registrar of the High Court- Criminal Division as part of his bail obligation in a case in which he was charged with treason.
