Police has arrested at least 30 people at Kisekka Market in connection with rowdy scenes in down town Kampala on Thursday, during an operation targeting roadside mechanics.
KCCA law enforcement officers descended on the Kisekka Market area on Thursday to evict mechanics illegally operating at the road side.
The mechanics are accused of vandalizing people’s cars and selling stolen spare parts to unsuspecting members of the public.
However the KCCA law enforcement team sought assistance from Police after facing stiff resistance from the mechanics.
According to Ivan Nduhura the Officer in Charge of Operations at the Central Police Station, the rowdy mechanics tried to sabotage KCCA operations by throwing objects at police and the KCCA enforcement officers.
