Police arrest ‘Ankole king’ over impersonation

Police in Mbarara  have arrested the self proclaimed King of Ankole Nyakusinga over what police says is masquerading and impersonation.

This comes after Dr. George William Katatumba from the Nkore Cultural Trust an organisation tasked to oversee the Obugabe of Ankole, wrote a letter on behalf of the kingdom to the Inspector General of Police, General Kale Kayihura requesting him to look into the matter.

Dr Katatumba adds that there are two individuals, Mr. Max Muhumuza and Mr. Asiimwe who are ranting on Social Media claiming to have been coronated as king Rubambasi Ntare IV of Ankole Kingdom. A claim that the kingdom dismisses and says is misguiding. The two individuals are said to be obtaining money under false pretence and promoting harmful propaganda.

Nyakusinga is being detained at Mbarara Rwizi Police Station.

Our police sources in Mbarara indicate that the DPC together with Rwizi RPC  recorded a statement from Nyakusinga over his alleged coronation during the meeting the cultural meeting .
