The police in Kabale have in their custody 8 Rwandan middle aged women who were found living in Uganda without valid documents.

Kigezi Regional Police spokesman Elly Matte  said that the suspected sex workers were arrested from various hotels in Kabale town during an operation to get rid of wrong doers.

Mr Matte said that the security swoop was prompted by increased theft in hotels and residences in Kabale by the suspected sex workers who later cross over to Rwanda.

He also added that the suspects were found with no identification papers, Rwanda is part of the East African Community, Rwandans crossing over to Uganda must have National Identity cards .

He said that the swoop which started yesterday will continue until all sex workers are flushed out and all those found guilty of entering Uganda illegally will be deported back to Rwanda.

It is alleged that the sex workers sometimes drug their clients and later rob their valuables including money and computers before they cross back to Rwanda.
