The month of Ramadan usually ends with a fair bit of uncertainty over the sighting of the moon, and the correct date for celebrating Eid. However, National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) on Tuesday kept the tradition of hosting iftar party in Kampala alive — an unchangeable certainty.
The Iftar is the traditional evening meal when Muslims break their daily Ramadan fast at sunset.
The event started with Magrib prayers led by the Mufti of Uganda Sheikh Shaban Ramadan Mubajje.
The utility organizes their iftar meet every year at the NWSC International Resource Center Bugolobi in true spirit of friendship, sharing and caring.
Speaking at the dinner, the host, NWSC Managing Director Dr.Eng Silver Mugisha shared the corporation’s success stories and attributed them to the very hardworking Muslim senior managers and staff at the utility.
“NWSC used to be in 23 towns 4 years back. We are now in 179 towns and will in the next few weeks take over more 25 towns and serve more people,” Eng Mugisha said.
He furthermore shared that the Corporation will this week give back to the disabled Muslim community at Nakivubo Blue Primary school.
The Mufti of Uganda Sheikh Shaban Ramadan Mubajje thanked NWSC for the kind gesture. “Muslims pray 5 times a day and water is part of Islam. Thank you NWSC for always hosting the Muslim community for Iftar during the holy month of Ramadan.I urge all Muslims to pay bills on time and help NWSC extend services to more people.
During the dinner, the customers were rewarded with Eid gift hampers appreciating their support towards NWSC.
All the guests enjoyed and appreciated a sumptuous Iftar. Kampala Water General Manager Eng Andrew Ssekayizi, NWSC Deputy Managing Director Finance and Corporate Strategy Mrs. Sylvia Alinaitwe, NWSC Director Business and Scientific Services and other dignitaries were present during the meet.
The event was well attended by distinguished guests from Uganda Muslim Supreme Council topbrass, media personnel and families of NWSC customers who made the event memorable.
