Patricia Apolot, nicknamed the Black Pearl, knows what is at stake when the kickboxer exchanges pleasantries with Austrian-born Carina Greimel, tomorrow (Saturday, May 13, 2017) at the MTN Arena in Lugogo.

Despite the Reign of Giants II theme night also include two other main fights including Alex Masiko-Aleksander Dokter and Shakey Mubiru- Allan Muhalala, Ugandans have so much hope in Apolot’s Intercontinental Title fight.

At 25, she has ventured into taekwondo, football, and boxing. But, it is kickboxing where Apolot shines brightest as the first female Ugandan to win  fights on the international stage.

“When sportsmen and women shine, the national pride is enhanced, Charles Mugasa of Hima Cement, Apolot’s sponsors says adding, “Our promise is that we shall continue to stand by Patricia Apolot, the ‘Black Pearl’ in her quest for regional, continental and international glory.”

Apolot, Uganda’s leading female kickboxer, last Saturday dominated her Lightweight bout against Greek Katerina Abdallah on the way to a unanimous point decision at the WKF European meet in Greece.

The Reign of Giants II theme night organiser Amon Mugume, Apolot and Hima marketing boss Mugasa. Apolot is confident of victory ahead of Saturday’s fight against Austrian-born Carina Greimel at the Lugogo MTN Arena.

She now has six international titles to her name having stopped Egypt’s LakrechYosrah in the second round to capture her maiden African title on December 2, 2016 during the inaugural Reign of the Giants tournament.

My fight will be hours just before this year’s Mothers’ Day,” Apolot told TheUgandan on Friday. I am only waiting for the bell to go off. I know we shall give you a very good fight which I dedicate to all my fellow women,” she stated.

Apolot will be traveling to Hungary in June 2017 for yet another international fight. Her plan also includes a fight in August 2017 in her motherland, in Ngora District of Teso.
