Following suspension of plenary sittings by Speaker Rebecca Kadaga due to a controversial order issued by the Deputy Chief Justice, Stephen Kavuma, Parliament has announced recommencement of business this Wednesday,
The Constitutional Court sitting chaired by Kavuma last week imposed an order stopping Parliament from debating or investigating the Shs6bn shared by senior government officials who participated in the Heritage Oil capital gains tax case.
The order was interpreted as despising the sovereignty of Parliament, prompting Kadaga to baptize it as “stupid” and later dismissed the house indefinitely pending readdress by the Constitutional Court.

In the statement it was revealed that Committee sittings shall resume on Tuesday.
“All Committee activities will resume on Tuesday 17th January 2016.”
The notice was copied to the Speaker Rebecca Kadaga, Deputy Speaker Jacob Oulanyah, Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda, Leader of Opposition Winnie Kizza, Government Chief Whip Ruth Nankabirwa and Chief Opposition Whip Ibrahim Ssemujju.
