After being received with mostly negative reactions by sections of Busoga stakeholders, the Kyabazinga William Gabula has been dropped from the list of ambassadors and diplomatic mission heads appointed by President Museveni that are expected to be vetted today by Parliament.
A fact check by TheUgandan at Parliament showed that the Kyabazinga’s name who was appointed Ambassador in Charge Of Special Duties In The Office Of The President is missing on the list while confirmed for vetting were 36 new ambassadors, including former defence minister, Dr Chrispus Kiyonga who has been sent to China. Dr Kiyonga replaces Charles Wagidoso.
And Mr Chris Obore, the parliament’s director of communications, confirmed the alteration saying it could be due to protests by his subjects and other members of the public who interpreted it as their king being dragged into ‘dirty’ politics.
They also argued that the appointment was belittling the Kyabazinga who is not supposed to work for anybody.
““I’m not sure why his name doesn’t appear on the list of those to be vetted tomorrow; I am not sure whether it could be due to contradictory views over his appointment from the public,” Obore said.
The Speaker of Parliament who also oversees the vetting committee, Hon. Rebecca Kadaga is one of the many Kyabazinga subjects in Uganda’s Parliament.
President Museveni last week defended his recent decision to appoint the Kyabazinga as ambassador, saying the appointment does not contravene any law.
