Uganda Cranes and Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Denis Onyango believes his national teammates are the best in the world after finishing their 2018 campaign with a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Congo at the Stade De L’Unite, Kintele in Brazzaville on Sunday.

The 32-year-old Uganda captain says he admires his fellow countrymen’s desire to improve after getting nine points – three goals scored against two, with only eventual Group E winners Egypt beating Uganda.

He said on Twitter: “Great fight from the boys ending the campaign with respect despite not qualifying.”

French born defender Marvin Baudry, who features for Belgian first division outfit Sportvereniging Zulte Waregem put the home team ahead in the 10th minute. Uganda Cranes quickly made amends through Vipers Sports Club winger cum forward Milton Karisa, a minute later.

The team returns to Kampala today (Monday, 13) at 9pm.
