Onduparaka inks multi million MTN Sponsorship

Friday – Greenlight STADIUM: Onduparaka vs. Soana

Onduparaka FC who famously took domestic football by storm have announced a new sponsorship deal with MTN Uganda, which will see the country’s biggest telco become their second shirt sponsor.

The lucrative deal is worth Shs 390 million for one year.  Onduparaka made their official announcement today (Saturday, October 14) at Desert Breeze Hotel in Arua.

The partnership will also see the West Nile side give MTN branding rights, including jersey and 50 per cent of their Arua-based club’s Greenlight Stadium alongside British online bookmakers, Betway the shirt sponsors for English Premier League side, West Ham. Betway also gave Onduparaka a new Shs600 million sponsorship package before of the start of the current 2017/2018 season.

Big prospects

Onduparaka patron and Ayivu county MP Bernard Atiku, welcomed the new MTN sponsorship deal and said supporters can expect it to benefit the club both on and off the pitch.

“It gives us the ability to drive more resources and help Leo Adraa and his team live up to our on-pitch ambitions,” Atiku said when approached for a comment.

“It allows us to make sure we have the resources necessary to compete at the highest level, particularly in a year where we’re ready to win the League.”

Mr. Val Okecho Manager, Corporate Communications at MTN Uganda was Arua to formalize the association with Onduparaka FC.

Meanwhile‚ The Caterpillars return to league action today with a blockbuster clash against fierce rivals Soana.

Onduparaka do have a revenge mission tomorrow. The last time they met Soana, they suffered a 2-1 defeat at Kavumba Recreational ground in a game they erred in defense.

Two league games thus far have been played at Greenlight Stadium, and Adraa’s boys collected four points from the two matches. They won one [against Police], after drawing with Proline in their opening game of the campaign.
