Onduparaka duo, Ochan make Basena’s first Uganda Cranes team

Four-star General Paul Mucureezi leads the line as Moses Basena and Fred Kajoba – interim coaches for the Uganda Cranes Tuesday summoned their squad for the two Total CHAN 2018 qualifiers against neighbors Rwanda due on 12th and 18th August 2017.

Basena and goalkeeper coach Kajoba are incharge until after Rwanda and Egypt games after Serbian tactician Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic dumped the side over non-payment of wages.

The squad has four goalkeepers, eight defenders, eight midfielders and three centre forwards with Rashid Toha, the lanky Onduparaka captain, his teammate Shaban Muhammad, KCCA goalie Ochan Benjamin, SC Vipers’ teenage midfielder Frank Tumwesigye ‘Zaga’ and Erisa Ssekisambu joining team to replace KCCA wingback Brian Majwega, Proline forward Nelson Senkatuka and Geoffrey Sserunkuma who left this week to play semi-professional football at Buildcon in Zambia.

The squad which starts training on Wednesday August 2 at Mandela National stadium with St. Mary’s stadium on Saturday August 12 hosting the first leg before going to Kigali a week later.

Cranes defeated South Sudan 5-1 over two legs to edge closer to qualifying for the CHAN finals due in Kenya early next year.

Goalkeepers: Watenga Isma (Vipers SC), Keni Saidi (Proline FC), Ikara Tom (Kirinya Jinja SS), Ochan Benjamin (KCCA FC)

Rest of the squad: Wadada Nicholas (Vipers SC), Adriko John (Sc Villa Jogoo), Muleme Isaac (KCCA FC), Awanyi Timothy (KCCA FC), Toha Rashid (Onduparaka FC), Kabugo Savio (Proline FC), Muwanga Bernard (Sc Villa Jogoo), Waisswa Moses (Vipers SC), Milton Kariisa (Vipers (Sc), Bukenya Deus (Vipers SC), Kasozi Nicholas (Synergy FC), Mutyaba Muzamir (KCCA FC), Musamali Paul (KCCA FC), Mucureezi Paul (KCCA FC), Serunkuma Simon (Sc VIlla Jogoo), Derick Nsibambi (KCCA FC), Masiko Tom (Vipers SC), Shaban Muhammad (Onduparaka FC), Frank Tumwesigye (Vipers SC), Kagimu Shafiq (URA FC), Erisa Ssekisambu (Vipers Sc).
