As the committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities on State Enterprises, headed by Bugweri MP Abdu Katuntu, enters the sixth week into the oil money ‘handshake’ probe, controversial journalist Andrew Mwenda is today set to make an appearance.
He is set to be questioned about his links to some of the 42 beneficiaries of the Shs 6 billion presidential bonus, with rumours saying he played an “extraordinary” role in their public relations management for their role on the arbitration. The tax dispute arose after Heritage sold its interests in Uganda’s oil to Tullow Oil.
Katuntu’s committee will also talk to the The Elders Forum (TEFU) whose membership is drawn from different religious and regional communities in Uganda, The Uganda National NGO Forum (UNNGOF) and Uganda Debt Network (UDN), an advocacy and lobbying coalition of NGOs, institutions, and individuals formed in 1996 to campaign for debt relief.
