Nyakasura School, one of Uganda’s prestigious educational facilities is a beehive of activities as an alumni charity golf and football showcases happen today (November 11, 2017) in Fort Portal, Kabarole, Western Uganda.
The events provide a platform to raise funds and awareness about the ongoing fundraising campaign to refurbish Nyakasura School.
Already confirmed participating in the golf at Tooro Golf Club, is former Uganda Open runner-up Mr Stephen Kasaija, who is also an OB of Nyakasura School. Following in Kasaija’s footsteps are Emmanuel Jakisa, an S.6, Nyakasura Student, who is also playing in today’s golf event.
“Nyakasura students need to embrace golf. They can excel at the sport as they pursue their studies,” said Kasaija, who was recently recalled to the national team and works with dfcu bank.
Other notable participants include national team players Adolf Muhumuza, Jonathan Musinguzi, (who finished 6th at the open last year and Dennis Asaba, the captain of the juniors’ golf national team.
As regards the football at Buhinga Stadium, the famous Kaboha brothers Sylvan and Nimrod will lead the way against the current Nyakasura School team. The brothers both excelled across various sports disciplines countrywide in the 1990s, with Nimrod starring in UEB’s Uganda Super League triumph in the late 1990s.
The golf and football events precede a fundraising dinner to be held on November 24, 2017 at Kampala Serena Hotel.
“I call upon all the willing and able OBs and OGs and friends of Nyakasura School to attend and where possible make a small contribution to this initiative of reviving the school to its past standing and glory,” said Mr Patrick Bitature, the Nyakasura Alumni Association Chairman and owner of Simba Group.
The fundraising committee chairperson, Mr David Kihumuro, says the fundraising drive seeks to raise at least UShs1.5 billion.

Justices of Uganda’s Supreme Court (some retired) including Justice Seth Manyindo, Justice Herbert Ntabgoba, Justice Steven Kavuma, Justice Patrick Tabaro and recently appointed Justice Richard Butera and Justice Paul Mugamba. The late Omukama of Tooro, Olimi Kaboyo, father of Omukama Oyo also went to Nyakasura School.
