Following the water supply challenges that have been faced in Gulu area over the last one year, the corporation has today signed a contract with Welhai International Economic and Technical Cooperative Company Ltd (WIETC) to take on work for the construction of the Gulu Water Supply and Sanitation Project
The project will entail increasing water production capacity from 5,000,000ltrs of water per day to 10,000,000ltrs, improving collection and treatment of Sewerage in Gulu, construction of a faecal sludge treatment plant and construction of sanitation facilities for public spaces among others.
NWSC MD Dr.Eng Silver Mugisha cautioned the contractor to ensure delivery of timely and quality services as NWSC cannot compromise. “We shall not hesitate to throw you out if you play games and take things for granted. We need project on time (In 18 months) and improve supply reliability to Gulu town more especially during the dry season.” he warned
The signing ceremony was officiated by the Managing Director NWSC, the Corporation Secretary Ms. Edith Katete, Director Projects and Capital Development Eng. Paddy Twesigye, Director Engineering Services Eng. Alex Gisagara as well as representatives from WIETC.
