Charles Mumbere, the king of Rwenzururu has been told by Luzira Maximum Security Prison authorities that there were no plugs in the cells to power fridges after court ordered he should have a private cook and a small fridge in his cell.
Frank Baine, Uganda Prison spokesperson said: ‘Court said Omusinga should have access to a fridge; but there are no sockets inside cells. We shall put the fridge somewhere else. We are not disobeying the magistrate’s order for Omusinga to have a fridge, but he can’t have it in his cell.’

However, Mumbere’s lawyer, Caleb Alaka, insists the king’s medication must be “kept under a certain temperature”.
He was prepared to install a plug in the monarch’s cell so that he can have a fridge, Mr Alaka added.
Mr Alaka said he will ensure that prison officials comply with the court order.
Mr Alaka said he initially thought there was a royal cook among those arrested but they had all “perished” during the raid on the palace.
The monarch would accept a cook appointed by prison authorities, he added.
Mumbere is entitled to these privileges because he suffers from hypertension and diabetes, court said.
But prison authorities say an outsider will not be allowed into the prison to prepare his meals.
The king was arrested last month after a security force raid on his palace while the Prime Minister of the Rwenzururu Kingdom Johnson Thembo Kitsumbire was today arrested and is currently detained at Kasese Police Station.
More than 80 people were killed in the clashes.
