Ugandan champions Kampala Capital City Authority FC Friday night stroll onto Stade Olympique 07 Novembre Rades turf in Tunis hoping to make history of advancing to the quarterfinals of the 2017 Total CAF Confederation Cup.
The final Group A game that kicks off at 10pm local time (11pm EAT) is a do-or-die encounter for Mike Mutebi’s side who left Kampala earlier this week.
A draw will be enough for both KCCA and Club Africain to qualify for the quarter finals with the Ugandan side finishing on top due to superior head to head record.
KCCA can still reach the quarter-finals if FUS Rabat and Rivers United draw in the other Group A game.
KCCA have neither won nor drawn away from home on the continent this season.
After earning a vital victory against FUS Rabat on Sunday, the 12-time Ugandan league champions earned themselves an opportunity of advancing to the quarterfinals of the 2017 Total CAF Confederation Cup.
“We are ready and the preparations have been smooth since arriving here. The players are highly motivated and I’m confident we shall get a good result,” Mutebi told the club website.
Skipper Dennis Oola Okot indicates that the players are equally heading into the game on Friday with qualification on their minds
“We are not under any pressure but everybody is geared towards the game tomorrow. We are in perfect condition and just waiting to do our job,” Okoth said.
Both KCCA FC and Club Africain are level on 9 points, a draw will be enough to send both teams to the next phase.
KCCA FC won the first leg against Club Africain 2-1 at the StarTimes Stadium courtesy of Tom Masiko and Derrick Nsibambi’s goals.
