NEW YEAR’S DAY: Kampala police cells buzzing with arrested criminals

Police cells in Kampala are full of criminals arrested suspects involved themselves in petty crimes like wallets and phone snatching, causing chaos and fighting during several sweeps during the celebrations to mark New Year.

According to Police, 138 suspects are being detained at Kampala Central Police Station (CPS).

Police also netted several criminals who were engaged in theft at Kakiri Gardens and Bukalango prayer centre among other places.

About 21 people who were too drunk and could easily be knocked or get robbed on their way were arrested from Nsangi area outside Kampala reveals Mr Peter Onen, Nsangi Division Police Commander while over 50 people were briefly held, cautioned and released uncharged.

In Kamwokya, Bukoto and surrounding areas, 15 people were arrested for pickpocketing revellers at places of happiness like bars, Kiira Road Division Police Commander (DPC) said.
