State House staff are excited about the prospect of working with new Principle Private Secretary Molly Nuwe Kamukama.
Ms Kamukama previously political assistant in the office of the NRM chairperson officially assumed her new office today from the outgoing PPS Mary Amajo in a function witnessed by Heads of Units of State House.
“Our new boss is exceptional. She is definitely going to ease pressure on the President,” one of President Museveni’s aides formerly under Mary Amajo’s leadership told TheUgandan in a short phone interview on Thursday. “she has potential, stamina and vision like our great leader.”
“Basically she will stop lamenting that has been ongoing here (State House). We’re excited Madam Molly will unite us and work hard regardless of our sects or religious affiliation,” the source said.
Many have however looked underplayed the kind of authority held by the outgoing Mary Amajo who has been in office for five years was laid back and this led to the overwhelming of President Museveni – instances that made Ugandans wonder whether the government had functioning structures.
With the young, trusted and hardworking and Kamukama at the helm, it is anticipated that she will assume the powers Amelia Kyambadde held for 31 years.
The President has spoken out about her work at his NRM party’s mobilization office in Mbuya, passion for her cause, and why she is joining one of the most powerful offices in the land to serve the ordinary people.
Ms Kamukama is expected to make institutions work by redirecting issues and grievances that can be handle at ministry and agency levels back to the Permanent Secretaries and head of government authorities.
“We all have to move in the same direction. I thank the President for entrusting me with this responsibility and look forward to working with all staff to ensure the President fulfills his responsibility to Ugandans,” said the Undersecretary Finance and Administration Hope Nyakairu who presided over the short ceremony.
