Twenty new jobs have been created in Kyaliwajjala, a neighbourhood in Kira Municipality, Wakiso District as a new petrol filling station, convenience store and pharmacy opens on the outskirts of Kampala.

The developer, Total Uganda Limited has today opened Total Kyaliwajjala service station bringing the country’s network to 129 service stations.

“We are aiming to provide a state of the art petrol station with associated convenience store which will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” said the Managing Director of Total Uganda, Florentin de LOPPINOT.

“We already have many years’ experience of offering convenience store goods and fuel at great prices.

“Stations such as Total Kyaliwajjala are not just about providing our solutions but also about supporting communities. This station will directly employ 20 young and another 50 indirectly has got to be good news for Kyaliwajjala.”

Kira Mayor Julius Mutebi said: “I love how this station is not like these other Chinese stations around Kira Municipality. Total Uganda never compromises on safety which is good.”

Growing very fast

Kyaliwajjala is bordered by Namugongo to the northeast, Bweyogerere to the southeast, Naalya to the south, Najjera to the west and Downtown Kira to the northwest. This location lies approximately 14 kilometers of Kampala the capital of Uganda.

It is worth noting that Kyaliwajjala has greatly blossomed from the little village it was a while ago into a suburb worth reckoning with.

With the erection of structures like the Quality Shopping mall which is neighboured by Afronica Bar, one of the oldest and most known in the place, the residents believe that this is but a tip of the ice-burg.

During the 2002 national population census, the Kira Municipality authorities estimated Kyaliwajjala’s population at about 50,000. It could have doubled by now considering how the middle class are running there for accommodation.

The chairman of Total Uganda, Mr. Jean-Christian BERGERON was on Tuesday joined by the Managing Director of Total Uganda, Mr. Florentin de LOPPINOT, Angella Bogere, Retail and Marketing manager and Mayor Kira municipality, Mr. Julius Mutebi Nsubuga to open the new station outside Kampala.
