Lebanese-backed Africell Uganda has introduced a new daily data bundle that offers the cheapest rates for SnapChat, WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter setting the stage for a possible price war with Airtel, MTN and Uganda Telecom.

The price for the SWIFT Bundle being set for as low as 200/- per day – the cheapest Social Media Bundle on the Uganda market, Africell Commercial Director, Milad Khairallah during the media launch on Tuesday claimed that this is six times more data than what the others are offering.

REWARDING CUSTOMERS

Dubbed the ‘Don’t be Cheated’ campaign, the bundle will spread over to all three major products – Mobile Money, voice calls and data.

Much of Uganda’s internet use is being driven by mobile phone handsets that are internet enabled. According to Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), the number of internet users as at the end of June 2015, were estimated at 12 million users. Of these, more than half – about 8 million subscribers – were accessing the internet through mobile handsets.

Africell Commercial says this product is tailored specifically for the young people who are Uganda’s biggest data customers, “… so as a reward to them, we moved to make the Social Bundle as cheap and as exciting as possible,’’ Khairallah said. The brand ambassadors for the #DontBeCheated campaign are top.

The Africell Uganda head offices in Kampala. The telecom company on Tuesday rolled out a social bundle package called ‘SWIFT Bundle’, the first of its kind on the Ugandan market.

The brand ambassadors for the #DontBeCheated campaign are top artistes SheebahKarungi, ZizaBafana and Bebe Cool.
