The Court of Appeal rules against Wakayima Musoke Nsereko over Nansana Municipality MP seat on the basis that he isn’t a registered voter, confirms ruling party, NRM’s Robert Ssebunya.
Three justices including the out-going DCJ Steven Kavuma (pictured above), Cheborion Barishaki and Hellen Obura upheld an earlier ruling made by a lower court.
In July 2016, the embattled Wakayima faced the warth of the law when Justice Vincent Okanga of by the High Court nullified his election and had declared NRM’s Sebunya as the duly elected MP.
It was ruled that the name Wakayima Musoke Nsereko which was used by the politician for his nomination as a candidate was nowhere on the voters’ register.
“Mr Wakayima was nominated in error as his name is not registered in the constituency’s voter register, it was the name of Musoke Hannington Nsereko which validly appears on the National Identification card. I find that the purported change of names is null and void,” court ruled.
