24 year-old Karen Bugingo is a cancer survivor who, at the age of 19, was diagnosed with severe lymphoma (cancer) in her blood. As a result she wrote a book ‘My name is Life’, a story that tells about the struggles as a cancer patient until her recovery process.

Now, her Kigali based publisher Dominique Alonga, CEO of Imagine We has organized big launch of the book in Uganda to celebrate Karen and this amazing achievement.

Karen Bugingo is a strong advocate for cancer in Rwanda and hopes that her first book will challenge and educate Africans about cancer.

“It’s really important to share your story no matter how one thinks of it as trivial,” Ms Bugingo said about her book. “You never know who might be changed by your story. I think that every story is worth telling and I would encourage every youth to develop a culture of telling their own stories.”

The inspirational book that first released in Rwanda in September 2016 and the official launch here for “My Name is Life” is on Wednesday 28th, 2018 at Karveli Kampala.

Karen battled cancer at the age of nineteen and has been sharing her story of strength.
