New Vipers SC goal poacher Daniel ‘Mzee’ Sserunkuma has been awarded the Uganda Premier League Fortebet Player of the Month gong for January 2018, while Kirinya Jinja SS winger Fred Amaku walked away with the December award, reports Tabu Peter.
On top of the plaques, each winner got a cheque of Shs500,000.
Sserunkuma, a former Kenya Premier League MVP scored on his debut for the domestic heavyweights in their 1-0 victory over Soana FC at the Kavumba Stadium, having signed from struggling Express FC. He has been in scintillating form for club’s Portuguese coach Jorge Miguel Da Costa Duarte and helping them to second spot in the league so far.
The diminutive striker scored six goals for Express FC in the first half of the season despite the Wankulukuku based side languishing in the relegation zone. He has nine goals now.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Shaban won the Player of the Month accolade for November 2017 after scoring in KCCA victories over Police, Soana and Vipers.
“It means a lot,” Shaban, who forward notched 6 goals in 3 appearances inclusive of the league’s only hattrick so far against Soana in Kavumba.
