Jaffer, one of the eldest sons of former President Idi Amin Dada also said that the North Korean and the Trinidad and Tobago embassies are all squatting on his father’s estate.
“The National Resistance Movement government always talks about Idi Amin Dada’s property as though he has no brothers, sisters or children. All Idi Amin Dada’s property across Uganda are under political caveat with no access is granted to his 60 surviving children,” Jaffer Amin said he while seeking justice on behalf of his over 60 siblings.
In an open letter on his social media pages, Reno openly asks President Museveni to handover their family property allegedly confiscated by government which the army continues to occupy some of their family property without pay.
“A token one off of Shs1 billion emolument has been passed in Parliament yet three houses in Mbuya occupied by the UPDF owe the Idi Amin Dada family Estate rent of upwards of $4 million since 1986.
“Civil Aviation Authority took over our five acres and two houses near Arua Airstrip all of which now has become a state asset for tourism.
“A 2,500 Hectare ranch in Vurra is also under caveat .. a 11 squares mile ranch in Buyale Ranch no.9 is used as a refugee camp.
“In Kampala like Cape Town View was commandeered by Salim Saleh, Cape Town Villas is wow under the Aga Khan Foundation, Lutembe Beach was taken while Jinja Lodge sits idle.
The Amin family says that 13 years ago President Museveni promised Amin’s family that all the properties would be returned to them after the former Ugandan leader died in Saudi Arabia.
President Museveni’s senior press secretary, Don Wanyama, said neither State House nor the NRM as a party do handle property claims and emoluments but advice the Amin family to seek help from Public Service if they can prove they are rightful owners.
“The President of Uganda who is also the chairman of the NRM is not responsible for such claims. If Jaffer Amin and his family can accordingly take their claims and emolument pleas to the Ministry of Public Service, they will be helped” Mr. Wanyama, said.
Jaffer Amin insists all these properties are titled in the name of his late father.
