Museveni’s ex-Health minister Makumbi is dead

Former Health Minister Dr. James Makumbi has passed on early Monday morning. Makumbi 78, died in his sleep at his residence in Luzira a posh suburb of Kampala, according to a relative.

Makumbi who served as Minister of Health in President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s government and also appointed the UPDF chief of medical services.

“I am deeply saddened by the passing on of Dr James Makumbi this morning. Uganda will dearly miss you. May he rest in peace,” the ministry of health Permanent Secretary, Dr Diana Atwine tweeted.

In 1995, he was famously abducted by Herbet Itongwa’s National Democratic Alliance (NDA) rebels at Kasangati and kept captive for three days.

May his soul RIP.
