President Yoweri Museveni has warned all encroachers on Makerere University land to leave before they face the law.

Museveni was speaking at Makerere at the installation of Professor Barnabas Nawangwe as new Vice Chancellor of the university. The ceremony took place at the University Main Hall.

Some of the Makerere Univesrity land titles acquired on the land that previously had wrangles were the university land in Katalemwa in Wakiso district, land on Sir. Apollo Kaggwa road and Kololo in Kampala and land in Buyana in Mpigi district.

Museveni, who is the Visitor of all public universities, said all those who have encroached and acquired titles on public land will lose their titles once found out.

His order followed an appeal by Professor Nawangwe who highlighted that, while he was taking over the new office, Makerere still faced challenges of encroachers and land grabbers.
