President Yoweri Museveni received credentials from 7 new envoys on Wednesday and Thursday, assuring them Uganda will strengthen ties with their countries.
The ambassadors presented their credentials at State House, Entebbe.
They included Egypt’s Mai Taha Mohammed Khali, Dmitry Kutel of Belarus, Indonesia’s Soehardjono Sastromihardjo, Palestine’s Nasri Abujaish, Ralph Heckner of Switzerland and Mr Raza Bashir Tarar as the new Pakistani High Commissioner to Uganda.
On Thursday, Russia’s new Ambassador to Uganda, Mr Alexander Dmitrievich Polyakov also delievered an invitation from President Vladimir Putin for Museveni to visit Russia. While presenting his credentials, and he described Mr Museveni as a “renowned leader on the African continent.”
It is not yet clear whether President Museveni accepted the invitation and, if so, when it would happen.
The President welcomed all the diplomats and assured them that the government will support them in expanding bilateral ties with their countries.
“I am looking forward to working closely with you in enhancing relations between our countries for the mutual benefit of our people,” Museveni said.
He encouraged the diplomats to work harder to increase trade and security ties.
