Museveni promotes SFC boss Don Nabaasa

The commander of the country’s elite Special Forces command Colonel Don Nabaasa has been promoted to the rank of a Brigadier General in the Uganda People’s Defence Forces.

The Commander in Chief Gen. Yoweri Museveni’s office on Wednesday confirmed Nabaasa’s promotion. Colonel Abel Kandiho the Chief of Military Intelligence has also been promoted to the rank of Brigadier while promoted to Major General is Simon Toolit Akecha who is now Uganda’s attaché to Burundi .  James Ssebagala the Commandant Nakasongola atonement also becomes a Major. General.

The UPDF Commander SFC, Col. Don Nabasa is now a Brigadier General

Nabasa in January replaced current Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations and out-going commander of the Special Forces, Maj. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba who was at the helm of the Special Forces Command for about seven years.

Nabasa born in Buremba Kazo in Kiruhura District briefly served as the latter’s deputy in 2016, when the substantive deputy Special Forces commander, Brig. Muzeyi Sabiiti left for a strategic military course abroad in early 2016. The Colonel was previously the commander of the 2 Special Forces Group (2 SFG), one of the most highly specialized elements of the Special Forces Command (SFC).

Meanwhile, President Museveni also presiding over the pass out ceremony of 321 officers and men of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) who have completed a number of courses in Armoured Warfare.

The ceremony took place at the Armoured Warfare Training School, Karama in Mubende district and the Commandant, Brig. Francis Chemo, reported that the trainees had been trained by experienced Ugandan and Russian instructors adding that the skills acquired match international standards.
