MP Lubwama has since become persona-non-grata at Besigye’s home
Embattled Lubaga South MP Kato Lubwama is no longer welcome to opposition kingpin Dr. Kizza Besigye’s home, an FDC party leader said, accused of spying for President Museveni and his NRM government.
In a report carried by The Observer, Kato Lubwama, has since become persona-non-grata at Besigye’s home.
Lubwama raised suspicion when he started hobnobbing with Kampala Central MP Muhammad Nsereko and being unjustifiably critical of Besigye on radio. Yet when Besigye campaigned in Kampala, Lubwama, a Democratic Party supporter, did not leave his side.
Reacting to the red flags, Besigye blacklisted Lubwama in August when he lost his temper at the vocal MP for “forgetting where he came from”.
That was days before Lubwama was named part of Parliamentarians who spent over Shs 2 billion while attending the 28th Uganda North America Convention (UNAA) in the United States.
FDC claims state intelligence agents have registered some success in using party supporters to spy on Besigye and other leaders.
Some are engaged on a monthly retainer basis while others are paid whenever they provide information.

Between 2011 and 2015 Besigye also admired Nsereko’s passionate criticism of President Museveni.
Besigye used to challenge us to stand up to Museveni like Nsereko and but Nsereko is today more critical of FDC than he is of NRM.
Following this experience, our sources say that Besigye has since become very cautious in his dealings with other opposition activists.
