Museveni men ‘heavy handedly’ forced their way – FDC boss Gen. Muntu on Kasese clashes

Uganda’s leading opposition party FDC party President Rtd Gen Mugisha Muntu has strongly condemned the nasty happenings in Kasese as heartless and uncalled for.

Addressing journalists on Monday, the former army commander called ‘inhumane’ the treatment of His Majesty Omusinga Wesley Mumbere Iremangoma, Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu.

“Why was the security acting in such a hurry? Were they expecting a formidable force from the palace that would come and over run them? Where were they getting all the pressure from?” Gen. Muntu questioned.

“If this regime leader can treat a leader of over a million people like this, what will happen to the common man?” he continued.

“There was no hostage situation to say that they were rushing to rescue them before they are executed. What forced the security officials to act within 24 hours?”

It is understood that President Museveni called the king and they agreed to push everyone out of the palace but he didn’t honor the agreement.

Gen. Muntu however warned the ‘regime’ led by President Yoweri Museveni to be cautious and be careful while using force” The more you use force the more desperate the population becomes, those in charge must take note.”

Early today, opposition MPs asked government to immediately release Mumbere who is facing treason charges and a list of the deceased.

At a press conference in Kampala, the MPs said they were travelling to Nalufenya Prison in Jinja to vist the king.

Police Spokesperson, Andrew Felix Kaweesi, says Mumbere is wanted together with his guards in connection to the death of more than 60 people in the last one week.
