Jinja Grade one magistrate Peter Mutala has on Friday charged prime minister of Rwenzururu Kingdom Johnson Thembo with terrorism, murder, aggravated robbery and eight other counts of attempted murder.

These are the same charges slapped against the Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere and 161 of his subjects a week ago by the same court.

Over 120 people were killed and 154 including King Wesley Mumbere arrested during the clashes between security forces and royal guards of the Rwenzururu kingdom on November 26 and 27.

Mr Thembo who was arrested last Saturday, didn’t have any legal representation and has been remanded until December 28, 2016 when he and his co-accused will return to court.

The magistrate said his court lacks the jurisdiction to hear the charges brought against him.

Prosecution alleges that Mr Thembo together with five others; Gertrude Masiko, Joseph Maate, Benge – Annie Hamada, Josephat Mbisiiko and Mustapha Mbusa between July and September attacked and killed police and army officers in Kasese municipality.
