Uganda Police Football Club have appointed former Vipers SC coach Abdallah Mubiru to replace Sam Timbe as boss Kavumba, the perennial Uganda Premier League strugglers said on Tuesday.
Mubiru signed a three-year contract with the Cops and was chairman Asan Kasingye’s “first choice” to take over after caretaker coach Angelo Lonyesi failed to uplift the club.
“I am happy to announce the signing of the trio as new Police FC coaches,” Kasingye disclosed.
“Abdallah Mubiru head coach, John Luyinda assistant Coach and James Magala goalkeeping coach with immediate effect from today (Tuesday).”

The cops currently sit only one place – and just one points – above drop zone and relegation remains a threat in the most competitive UPL season so far, especially as they are short on goals – they have scored just 10 in 15 games (in 13th place have picked 14 points from three wins, five draws and seven losses)
Mubiru, mid-40s, who was sacked from KCCA FC almost two seasons back and then had an unsuccessful stint in Kitende with Vipers until a fortnight ago, will be tasked with keeping Police in the topflight for another season.
He will be assisted by John Luyinda Ayala and James Magala will be the goalkeeping coach.
