Long distance runner Bernard Cheptoch has vowed to use his 13th edition of the MTN Kampala Marathon success to further his career.
“I want to get a manager who will help me make it to the World Championship,” said Cheptoch who won the men’s 42km race with a time of 02:19:13 during the MTN Marathon at Kololo Airstrip and a cash prize of Shs 14m.
“Am not surprised I won because I have been training hard. Honestly this is my first time to win a marathon and am confident if I get a good manager, he will secure for me bigger marathons outside the country,” he added.
His biggest appearance abroad still remains the Junior men’s race at the 2009 IAAF World Cross Country Championships was held at the Al Bisharat Golf Course in Amman, Jordan.
At only 23, Cheptoch is tipped to be taken up by British superstar Mo Farah and Ugandan runner Timothy Toroitich’s agent Ricky Simms.
