Fear gripped residents of Busaamu Village in Malongo sub-county, Mayuge district after a 14-year-old girl was beaten to death by her father for allegedly spending a night in a nightclub.
The deceased was identified by authorities as Winnie Nabwire, a Primary Four pupil at Golden Junior School in Nakigo village.
Mayuge district Police officer in charge of criminal investigations Hassan Chereget said the girl’s father, Ahmed Wesonga a crime preventer in Busaamu village is the main suspect.
According to Junique Namuganza, the deceased’s mother, the girl was beaten for attending overnight disco during New Year celebrations which angered her father.
The father was joined in pulping the girl by his friend identified as Wilson Walimbwa and the deceased’s two brothers.
They used sticks to hit her all over the body.
The mother revealed that as the beating persisted, she ran and reported to the area chairperson. Unfortunately, she the chairman, Moses Kigenyi came when it was too late. She was already dead.
The suspects had laid her body under a mongo tree in the compound, placed on a mattress and covered it with bedsheets before taking off.
Only Walimbwa has been apprehended while the other suspects ivovled in the brutal killing are still on the run.
