The able Uganda Police Force has warranted maximum security and road safety ahead of this year’s Centenary Bank Rotary Cancer Run.

At a special press conference at Kati Kati Restaurant in Kampala on Friday, Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) Emilian Kayima said the participants expected in the 2018 Rotary Cancer run will be safe. Flanked by the Kampala Metropolitan Traffic Police Commander, Norman Musinga and Rotarian Dennis Jjuuko, the Afande Kayima said Ugandans should wake up on Saturday morning ready to run for charity and fun in a secured environment.

It was also revealed there will be temporary closure of roads which the runners will use.

“Motorists are advised to adhere to traffic rules and regulations. Participants with cars will park at Games Stores, City Parents Primary school and Hotel Africana,” Afande Musinga said.

Centenary Bank made a sh155m contribution and it the seventh time that the Bank shall be partnering with Rotary Uganda in the fight against the Cancer scourge.

The estimated cost for both the machines and bunkers is Shs18 billion.

Last year, Past District Governor and Chair of the Uganda Rotary Cancer Programme Stephen Mwanje said sh1.1bn had been raised from last year’s event after the run at Kololo.
