Newly promoted West Nile club, Onduparaka posted a 2-0 comfortable win over Gor Mahia at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole in a high profile international friendly game.

Forward Kabon Living scored a brace with his first coming in the first half after a free kick by Gadhaffi Gadhino was parried by Boniface Olouch to his advantage to nick in.

The game needed to travel for just 18 extra minutes before the second goal registered with the youngster rounding off Kenyan star goalie Oluoch to cushion the  hosts’ lead.

Onduparaka Starting XI: Richard Anyama, Adriko Gasper, Saddam Norman, Akram Kakembo, Rashid Toha, Ivan Mbowa, Faizal Ibrahim Anini, Gaddafi Gadinho, Fahad Muhammad Took, Ceasar Okhuti, Kabon Living

Gor Mahia Starting XI: Boniface Oluoch, Abdul Karim Nzigimana, Mike Simiyu, Musa Muhammad, Joash Onyango, Collins Okoth, Kenneth Muguna, Jean Baptiste Mugiraneza,Francis Kahata, Jacques Tuyisenge, Timothy Otieno

The West Nilers’ new striker Fahad Toko was impressive and will give good cover to star forward Muhammad Shaban and veteran forward Ceaser Okhuti.

Experienced Harambe Stars forward Francis Kahata tried to make a number of incursions but he was stopped in his tracks by a well organised Onduparaka defence as they jealously defended their lead for the entire first department.

Livingstone Mbabazi’s side finished the game a man-less after pioneer defender Alex Gasper Adriko was red carded after a second yellow card conceded from wasting time just two minutes after the hour mark.

It was however a good test for or Mahia who are preparing for the start of the Kenya Premier League (KPL) season, their hosts used the game to test preparedness ahead of Wednesday’s opening second round game against Proline.
