One person is admitted in the isolation unit at Kaproron Health Center IV, and another at Kapchorwa Hospital, after exhibiting Marburg like symptoms.

Dr. Godfrey Chemosi, the Acting Kween District Health Officer, says the suspected Marburg victim at Kaproron Health Center IV is a health worker.

He says they have dispatched blood samples to Uganda Virus Institute for further examination.

He however says that they have not established any link between the health worker and the- 50-year-old woman, who succumbed to Marburg on 17th October, 2017.

John Bosco Opio, the acting Chief Administrative Officer Kapchorwa district who doubles as the spokesperson of the Marburg task Force in Kapchorwa, says one person is also admitted in the isolation unit at Kapchorwa hospital.

He says they are also waiting for results from the blood samples sent to the Uganda Virus Institute for examination.

He adds that they are also following up eight other people.

He however reveals that some of the people believed to have come into contact with the Marburg victim, have completed the 21 day follow-up period.

Opio says they have also organised sensitization meetings for staff at Kapchorwa Hospital and Kween health Center IV, on how to handle suspected Marburg cases.
