A man who defiled an 11- year old neighbor’s granddaughter has been jailed by a Northern Uganda court.
Gulu High Court resident judge, Justice Vincent Okwanga who delivered the judgment said the prosecution had proved that the accused committed the heinous act.
Kennedy Ocen, a father of five and married to two wives is said to have defiled the minor on January 5th, 2016 for defiled the 11- year-old child and forcing her to drink his urine after sexual assault and was on Friday was sentenced to nine years in jail.
The defiled minor names withheld to protect her told Justice Okwanga during her testimony on Friday, that Ocen, collected his urine in a polythene bag before forcing her to drink it.
The victim narrated to the silent courtroom how Ocen who was in possession of two kitchen knives threatened to cut her into two pieces, longitudinally if she does not do what he wants.
On the forgettable January 5th, 2016, Ocen visited the home of his victim and asked for a knife.
He requested the grandmother of his victim to allow the young girl to accompany him so that she can return the knife presumably after using it.
Later, the girl came and told her grandmother that Ocen, whom she knew only by his face defiled her near eucalyptus trees plantation which is not far away from home.
Ocen denied the allegation saying he is wrongly being accused, of the offence.
But in his sentence delivered on Friday at Gulu High Court, Justice Okwanga dismissed Ocen’s defence and convicted him as charged.
The judge noted that Ocen failed to tell court where he was on the date the offence is alleged to have been committed.
He accordingly handed the convicted him to nine years in prison, saying it will act as a deterrent.
Sexual crimes against under- aged children is over 50 percent of capital offences that are heard before Gulu High Court.
