Hearing of the bail application of the Makerere University Administrator charged with indecent assault hit a snag on Thursday following a request by the prosecution to involve the Director of Public Prosecution in the matter.
Edward Kisuze, a Registrar in the College of Computing and Information Science at Makerere University is accused of indecent assault and attempting to rape Rachel Njeri Njoroge, a former student of Kenyan origin.
Prosecution alleges that while at the Senate Building of Makerere University on April 13, 2018, Kisuze indecently assaulted and attempted to rape Njoroge when she went to certify her transcript and pick a recommendation letter when she was referred to room 507 for help.
This morning, Kisuze appeared before the Buganda Road Chief Magistrate, James Ereemye Mawanda for his bail application hearing.
However, the State Prosecutor, Viola Tusingwire asked for a shorter adjournment to consult with Justice Mike Chibita, the Director of Public Prosecution on Kisuze’s bail application. This has prompted Mawanda to adjourn the matter to May 11th, 2018.
Kisuze’s lawyer, Kenneth Munungu told court that he isn’t satisfied with the delay by the state to respond to the bail application of his client.
