The Inspector General of Police, Gen. Kale Kayihura, has made a break-through after arresting the key suspect in the New Year attacks in Bukomansimbi district.
Kayihura paraded the key suspect Galiwango Musa and his associates before Masaka court on Monday.
The attacks which claimed 5 lives and left several injured took place in the villages of Kisojo, Kyamabaale, and Kyabagoma in Kibinge sub-county in the early hours of 1st January 2018.
What we know
*Gen. Kayihura said Musa led the attack on the home of Mr Kateregga, the director of St Francis High School Kisaaka Trading Centre in Lwengo district.
*Gen. Kayihura has also assured the residents that more assailants would be apprehended and prosecuted in courts of law.
*He also promised to lay means of more sustainable means of defending people in the area.
*Following the occurrence, Kayihura has also reshuffled Police bosses in the Greater Masaka Region.
*President Yoweri Museveni, while consoling the bereaved families in Bukomansimbi blamed Police and communities’ failure to embrace neighborhood watch.
*He vowed to crack down the criminals through collaboration between security agencies and the public.
