Kitgum Municipality Member of Parliament Beatrice Anywar remains in a critical condition in hospital after getting involved in a nasty accident at Kangole Primary school in Paloga Sub county Lamwo district.
The legislator was traveling to Kampala, from the burial of Michael Ocan, the husband of Gulu woman MP Betty Aol Ocan and her Land Cruiser registration UAY 354G on Tuesday afternoon veered off the road before overturning.
Hon. Anywar was Friday morning airlifted in a Police Chopper from Boma grounds in Kitgum Municipality and rushed to Kampala for further Medical Management.
Anywar was with her driver only identified as Mr Asuman.
She is still fighting for her life at Case Medical Center, Kampala.
A family member said: “It’s extremely hard for the family and we are just keeping them all in our prayers.
According to Lamwo District Police Commander Eria Elopot, preliminary findings indicate the driver lost control while over speeding.
Who is Anywar
Beatrice Atim Anywar, also known as Mama Mabira, born 1964 in Kitgum, is a local politician and member of Parliament for the opposition party FDC, and minister of the Environment in the Shadow Cabinet. She became well known for her work to save the Mabira Forest when president Yoweri Museveni, and the government, had prior to her work decided to sell the forest to the sugar company Scoul to cut it down and convert it into a sugar cane plantation for ethanol production.
