Another gun has been recovered in Kisoro disttrict, just three days after the police found what they called a sniper rifle in the home of a 71-year-old widow.

An AK 47 riffle number 1961-53475 with twenty two rounds of ammunition was found hidden under a heap of stones in Rukoro, Nyakabingo parish in Kyahi Sub County.

Ronald Tushimyi-mana,17, a resident of the area says that he recovered the rifle while grazing cows on Sunday at around 10:30am. Tushimyimana says that he saw the rifle hidden under stones as he was picking a stone to throw at the cows.

Tushimyi-mana says that he immediately alerted his father, David Nzabanita, who also alerted locals and police from Kyanika Police Station for help.

The Police Spokesperson for Kigezi region, Elly Maate, says that  investigations to find out the owner of the rifle are ongoing. Maate also calls upon the public to remain vigilant and always report to police in case such weapons are recovered.

The security forces are also yet to catch the criminals behind the gruesome murder of two men whose headless bodies were discovered in Northern Division Kisoro municipality on November, 27th 2017.

The deceased have been identified as Kefa Mugabe and Moses Muftindinda all residents of Shunga village, Nyabwishenya sub-county. The two were casual labourers in the home of Rev. Canon Baker Habimana, a resident of Kamonyi cell.

Deo Karimunda, one of the neighbours says the two bodies were found in a pool of blood. It remains unclear how the two met their tragic end.
