Kefa Kisala sacked as URA coach

Kefa Kisala has been sacked as coach of URA Football Club after just over fourteen months in charge, the struggling club confirmed on Monday.

“URA Football Club has today (Monday) parted company with its Team Coach, Kefa Kisala,” URA said in a statement on their website.

“Kisala, appointed URA FC Head Coach in December 2015, led URA to the Mapinduzi Cup trophy after 15days in office. However, the league results in the current campaign have placed the URA FC League status under risk and the Board reluctantly feels that a change of leadership, while admittedly painful, is necessary in the Club’s greatest interest.”

Odoch James, will be taking charge of the squad until another  former Assistant Coach Ibrahim Kirya is officially unveiled as Kisala’s replacement until the end of the season, URA added.

“This has been the most difficult decision we have had to make last night to keep the interests of the club keep going forward, Kisala has brought discipline and a sense of working together in the team which the board appreciates,” new club chairman Kizza James said.

Kisala leaves the four-time Uganda Premier League champions, 7th on the 16–team log with 24 points, a whole 14 adrift of leaders KCCA.

His last game was a 1-0 to Proline defeat at home and now his former assistant Odoch will look to make amends against Lweza FC at Wankulukuku on Tuesday.
