Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) will enforce closure of 34 schools in Kampala that have failed to put in place required standards.
This follows release of a report on the status on 48 schools that had been asked to make improvements or else be closed.
According to the report, only 14 schools did make improvements and have been recommended to open for first term.
Of the schools allowed to open, seven are situated in Central Division, four in Makindye Division and one school in each of the remaining Nakawa, Kawempe and Rubaga Divisions.
KCCA spokesperson Peter Kaujju says an operation will be carried out to enforce closure of these schools. He says the schools were told not to open for first term but they defied the directive.
Kaujju says the proprietors of the schools will be prosecuted for defying orders.
