The Parliamentary Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises has noted glaring irregularities in the delivery of agro inputs by NAADS to the communities.
The committee was meeting the companies contracted by NAADS to supply the inputs.
MPs on the committee are concerned that the inputs may have never arrived or the actual recipients of the inputs were not the originally designated beneficiaries for the procured inputs.
A particular query that raised eyebrows was the delivery of 150 tonnes of maize seed by Victoria Seeds valued at over 526m meant for veterans.
The MD of Victoria seeds Josephine Okot told MPs that she had delivered the seeds to the areas specified in the order.
The ED of NAADS Dr. Samuel Mugaasi stated that the seeds were delivered to the various zonal institutes across the country in order to bring them closer to the people.
However the committee chairperson Abdu Katuntu informed the NAADS officials and the suppliers that MPs were looking beyond the delivery to ascertain whether the true beneficiaries received the inputs.
Josephine Okot was unable to provide good received notes for all the deliveries made regarding the 150 tonnes of Maize seeds, Katuntu gave her until the end of business today to furnish the committee with the documentation.
