Kalita Bus Kyegegwa Accident: 7 dead and 40 in critical condition

No fewer than seven persons were feared dead in an auto crash in Kyegegwa District of Western Uganda.

A Kalita Bus is said to have collided with a Canter carrying tea leaves.

The accident that occurred this afternoon on Kyenjojo Road just after Matiri trading centre towards Kyegegwa Road that had left Kampala on Friday morning.

Lydia Tumushabe, the Rwenzori Region Police Spokesperson, says the accident occurred when the Kalita Bus registration number UAJ 409T collided with a truck number UAU 831Q, which was speeding on the wrong side of the road.

“It was gathered that both vehicles collided, which left seven of the people in the bus dead while many others in the mass transit bus are in critical conditions,” Tumushabe said.

All the dead people were on the bus enroute to Fort Portal.
