Kabugo happy to return to Uganda team

Proline defender Savio Kabugo, has admitted he was desperate to return to the national team, The Uganda Cranes after being summoned to play for Milutin Sredojevic against the Eastern region select team this Sunday.

Kabugo who has been impressive for Proline this season after a series of nagging injuries is best remember by Cranes’ fans for his powerfully headed goal past the Ghana Black Stars during the 2015 AFCON qualifiers at Namboole in 2014.

“I was on top of my game then but injuries disturbed my progress. It was really difficult for me after that.” Kabugo told TheUgandan.

He added: “I’m happy to be back in the national setup.  It has been a long time coming and i thank my Proline teammates and coach Mujib (Kasule) for the continued support.”

As a show of trust, Micho has named Kabugo as deputy captain to Emmanuel Okwi for the team of of 23 players  that will travel to Kamuli. They shall train on Friday evening at Namboole and depart on Saturday morning.

Central defenders: Brian Nsubuga (Masavu), Savio Kabugo (Proline), Allan Anguyo (Maroons), Rashid Toha (Onduparaka)

Holding Midfielders: Hudu Muliki (URA), Abel Eturude (SC Villa Jogoo), Saddam Juma (Express), Ambrose Kirya (SC.Villa)
