Kabange leaves Uganda for ‘riches’ in Rwanda
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

It is common knowledge that the Rwandan President Paul Kagame is a huge sports fan and has personally encouraged his country’s sporting institutions to become the best in the region.

There are signs that Rwandan sport splurging over the best talents in the East African region is here to stay with Kami Kabange – twice playoff Most Valuable Player in three Uganda National Basketball League seasons the latest to be snapped.

The centre guided City Oilers to Zone V Basketball Championship was recently given a worthy farewell after he sealed a multimillion deal back home with Rwanda Energy Group (REG) Basketball Club. Muhammed Santur the Oilers manager acknowledged that Kabange who has played for them four glorious seasons had got a good offer in Kigali for two years and they could not match it.

City Oilers last week sealed a fourth consecutive league title and also represented East and Central Africa at the Fiba Africa Club Championship.
